Best Yoga Practices For Fat Burn

Yoga typically isn't looked at as a form of exercise to lose weight. Yoga is more about de-stressing, encouraging patience, increasing flexibility, meditating, and becoming in-tune with your mind and body. However, that doesn't mean you can't use yoga as a weight-loss tool as well. There are many types of active yoga practices that help burn more calories during and at rest. Active yoga practices implement more difficult poses and movements with an emphasis on cardiovascular fitness and strength.
Those who already practice yoga know that it builds total-body strength. When you build muscle mass, you increase your metabolism. The following yoga practices will elevate your heart rate, increase your strength, and turn up the burn!

Vinyasa

Vinyasa works the entire body by moving from one pose to the next without resting in between. I personally love vinyasa yoga because no two classes are the same. This particular practice is ideal for those who get bored easily and need more variety. Vinyasa yoga teaches you to move in a more connected and graceful way. You have full reign to perform vinyasa yoga as vigorous or as gentle as you wish. Depending on how hard you go, the average person can burn up to 500 calories after an hour session. You can always add lunges, jumps, and pushups to your poses to make them more challenging and burn even more calories.

Ashtanga

Ashtanga in the ancient language of India Sanskrit means 8 limbs. Ashtanga yoga is about using these 8 limbs in your practice. The 8 limbs are:

* Behavioral restraints

* Behavioral observances

* Practice of physical postures

* Concentrations

* Meditation

* Breathing techniques

* Withdrawal of the sense

* Transcendence

Ashtanga yoga is more challenging and not recommended for beginners. It uses full-body strength training with core and arm balancing movements. You will gain inner peace, flexibility, and become stronger thanks to its demanding nature. Ashtanga yoga is an excellent practice for those who enjoy yoga and want to burn fat and increase lean muscle mass. It's important to note that Ashtanga is ideal for those who love structure. Your practice will be the same from day-to-day.

Bikram

Bikram yoga (also known as hot yoga) has been touted by celebrities for years. If you're in good health and can take the heat, this might be the practice for you. Bikram yoga uses many hatha yoga poses that are performed in an unchanging order. Most Bikram classes are held in heated rooms typically up to 105 degrees F so be prepared to sweat. The heat and constant movement will increase your heart rate allowing you to burn more calories during your practice.

Even restorative or gentler yoga practices can help you lose weight. Yoga creates an inner sense of peace, mindfulness, and is a natural de-stressor. These factors can help us become more aware of what we are putting into our bodies and reduce the chance of overeating.
