When I came across the new Russian doll lip filler technique on Instagram I was intrigued. I've had lip filler in the past in the form of Juvederm several times, but I never got the perfect pout that I wanted. My side profile also looked ridiculous. What Is The Russian Doll Technique?
The Russian doll technique adds volume to the body of your lips without the filler migrating above your lip (hence avoiding the duck look). Your physician applies small droplets of filler that are injected vertically instead of in the lines directly at the border of your lips. This Russian doll technique lifts, opens and widens the body of your lips.
Even with numbing cream, when people get regular lip fillers that can experience pain. That's because the border of your lips is the most sensitive part. With the Russian doll technique, the needle isn't hitting that area, so you feel virtually no pain.
The Russian doll technique works best on virgin lips, or lips that haven't had fillers done before. If you currently have filler, it's recommended your existing filler be dissolved two weeks prior to your appointment. The reason is, you must have no filler along the border of your lip for this new technique to be successful. Depending on the amount of filler you need, the procedure can take anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour. The Russian technique results last the same amount of time as your normal fillers would as it's the technique that's different not the effectiveness of the dermal fillers.
