The 3-Day Military Diet, Does It Work?

The 3-day Military Diet lasts obviously, 3 days and claims you can lose 10 pounds in one week. You simply follow the diet to a T for 3 days and then have 3 days off. You'll continue this cycle every week until you obtain your goal weight. The great thing about the Military Diet is if you have special dietary needs such as you're vegan, lactose intolerant, etc., you can make adjustments. The Military Diet is very successful for those who follow it and stick with it. However, it is easy to gain the weight back when going off the diet if you go back to bad habits. Just like with any "fad" diet, you want to slowly introduce those foods you used to love that aren't that great for you. The Military Diet has nothing to do with the military except for the fact it was named that due to its strictness. It's a low-calorie regimen where you consume no more than 1400 calories during those first 3 days. You're not required to workout, and you'd probably not have enough energy to anyways. Opposite of the popular Keto Diet, this diet is low in fat. 

What You Can Eat On The Military Diet

* Eggs
* Cheese (cheddar and cottage cheese) minimally
* Whole-wheat bread minimally.
* Bananas
* Apples
* Grapefruit
* Green beans
* Carrots
* Greek yogurt
* Peanut butter
* Meat
* Tuna
* Hot dogs
* Crackers (plain or saltine)
* Coffee
* Tea
* LOTS OF WATER

What You Can't Eat On The Military Diet

* Butter
* Milk
* Creamers
* Sugar
* Artificial sweeteners (Stevia is ok)
* Juice
* Oranges

It's important that you ALWAYS speak with your doctor or dietician before starting any fad diet. If you're ready to start, here are is a sample meal plan for your 3-days:

BREAKFAST

1 cup black coffee (or with stevia)
1/2 grapefuit
1 slice of whole-wheat toast (plain or with peanut butter)

LUNCH

Tea or coffee
1 slice of whole-wheat toast
1 can of tuna

DINNER

1/2 cup of carrots or fresh green beans
3 ounces of any meat
1 apple
1/2 banana
1 cup of plain ice cream
