Sirtfood Diet Recipes and Meal Ideas

The sirtfood diet is becoming the latest craze and is a favorite among European celebrities such as Pippa Middleton and Adele. The diet claims you can lose 7 pounds in 7 days so the question remains, is the sirtfood diet healthy? The sirtfood diet suggests that adding healthy "sirtfoods" into your diet will induce the rate of might loss as if you were fasting or exercising. Polyphenols found in certain foods such as red wine, dark chocolate, and kale trigger sirtuin pathways in our bodies that affect aging, metabolism, and mood. Sirtfood diet experts say that when following this diet you will kick start weight loss without losing muscle and sacrificing your health. Loyal followers claim that the sirtfood diet isn't just a fad, it's effective for sustained weight loss. 

How the Sirtfood Diet Works

The sirtfood diet is comprised of two phases. 

Phase One of the Sirtfood Diet

This phase lasts for 7 days. Your total caloric intake is 1,000 calories for the first 3 days that consist of three green juices containing sirtfoods and one full sirtfood-rich meal. Days 4-7 allow you to increase your calories to 1,500 by including an additional full sirtfood-rich meal. Compared to other strict diets that have phases, this to me seems very doable. 

Phase Two

The purpose of phase 2 is to help maintain your recent weight loss from phase 1 while continuing to lose weight steadily. On phase 2 you consume one green juice and can eat three sirt-food rich meals every day. 

After you complete phase 2 the rest is up to you. You can continue staying on phase 2 if you're happy with your results, or if you want to lose a little more you can go back to phase 1. The sirtfood diet isn't about living your life only eating three sirtfood-rich meals and a green juice every day for the rest of your life. Once you've hit your goal, you can start "sirtifying" foods like pizza, chili, pancakes, and more!

Getting Started on the Sirtfood Diet

First and foremost, you will need a quality juicer to make your sirtfood green juices. I had the Ninja when it first came out years ago and I hated it. When it came out with the new powerful version I gave it a second chance and I can't live without it. I not only make juices that are PULP FREE!!! I make soups, dough (yes dough!), and chopping. 




The three main ingredients in your sirtfood green juice are:

Matcha powder- (you can find it online or at your local health food store such as Whole Foods, Trader Joes, etc). Try to stick with organic brands. 

Lovage - is an herb that will probably be a lot harder to find. Since you can find ANYTHING on Amazon I found a package of dried Lovage leaves here. Lovage herb helps fight inflammation and prevent kidney stones. 




Buckwheat - is essential if improving heart health, reducing blood sugar, protecting against cancer, and is an excellent source of vegetarian protein.

Many nutritionists believe the sirtfood diet can be used as an anti-aging regimen as well as a form of losing weight. 

Here is a sirtfood approved green juice recipe from Marie Claire UK. 

What You Need

2 large handfuls of kale
1 large handful of arugula (or rocket)
1 small handful of parsley
1 small handful of lovage leaves 
2 large stalks of celery
1/2 green apple
juice of 1/2 lemon
1/2 teaspoon of matcha green tea

How to Make It

Add the kale, arugula, parsley, and lovage to your blender and juice them. You can add distilled water as you go until you reach your desired consistency. Next juice the apple, celery, matcha powder, and lemon juice. You should have about 250ml of juice. It's important to note that the matcha green tea has caffeine so you might want to eliminate that ingredient if you're drinking your green juice after 5 p.m.

Sirtfood Breakfast Recipe

What You Need

1/2 cup strawberries
1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt
1/4 cup buckwheat flakes
1/8 cup buckwheat puffs
1/4 cup coconut flakes (optional)
1/8 cup chopped walnuts
1/8 cup cocoa powder
1/3 cup Medjool dates

How to Make It

Mix the ingredients together in a bowl only topping the ingredients with strawberries and yogurt when you're ready to serve.

Sirtfood Lunch Recipe

Turmeric Chicken and Kale Salad with Honey Lime Dressing (from Sirtfooddiet.net)


What You Need

To prepare the chicken:

1 large garlic clove minced
1 tbsp coconut oil
1 tsp turmeric powder
1/2 onion diced
9-ounces diced up chicken breast
1 tsp lime zest
juice of 1/2 lime
2 cups broccoli florets
3 large kale leaves (stems removed)
2 tbsp pumpkin seeds
1/2 avocado sliced
1 handful parsley chopped
1 handful coriander leaves chopped

For the dressing
* 3 tablespoons lime juice
* 1 small garlic clove, finely diced or grated
* 3 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil (I used 1 tablespoons avocado oil and * 2 tablespoons EVO)
* 1 teaspoon raw honey
* ½ teaspoon wholegrain or Dijon mustard
* ½ teaspoon sea salt and pepper

How to Make It

Heat the coconut oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Add the onion and saute for 4 minutes until golden. Add the minced garlic and diced chicken to the pan and stir for 2-3 minutes breaking it apart. Next, add the lime juice, lime zest, turmeric, salt and pepper and cook for another 3-4 minutes and set aside in a bowl or plate. Add the broccoli florets to a small saucepan of water and bring to a boil. Cook for 2 minutes and rinse under cold water. Add the pumpkin seeds to the frying pan you used to cook the chicken and minced ingredients. Toast over medium heat for a few minutes, stirring to prevent burning. Grab a large salad bowl and place the kale and dressing into it tossing until coated. Lastly, toss in the broccoli florets, chicken, pumpkin seeds, avocado slices, herbs, and all other ingredients.

Sirtfood Diet Dinner Recipe

(Good Housekeeping UK)

What You Need

2 leeks
2 sweet potatoes
1 lemon
11-ounce mackerel fillets
2-ounces pitted black olives
7-ounces cherry tomatoes
1 tbsp olive oil
1/4 pint vegetable stock

How to Make It

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Chop 2 sweet potatoes and 2 leeks and place in a roasting tin. Pour the vegetable stock over them and drizzle with the olive oil. Roast in the oven for 15-20 minutes. Add the mackerel fillets, cherry tomatoes, and black olives. Squeeze lemon juice all over and roast for an additional 10 minutes.

Sirtfood Diet Snacks

The snacks on the sirtfood diet are healthy and pretty basic. Some excellent choices include:

* Olives
* Edamame
* Apple
* Pear
* kiwi fruit
* Grapefruit
* Dried figs
* Cucumber and hummus
* Carrots
* Pecan nuts
* Oat cakes with almond butter
